Hess is planning a deep offshore oil development on the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points Block, where the US company has made seven discoveries from eight wells drilled. The seven are Paradise in 2011, Hickory North, Beech,Almondand Pecan in 2012, and Cob and Pecan North this year, drilled using the Stena DrillMax drillship. Hess exploration and joint venture manager Africa Andrew Hughes told the Africa Upstream conference on 28 November that Pecan had been drilled in 2,500 metres water depth – a record for the company. He said the company planned to acquire new 3D seismic starting this month, followed by appraisal drilling starting next year.
