GCC states face up to obesity crisis

From 26 January to 6 February, Qatar will hold its first ‘fat camp’ for children, hoping to reverse an obesity trend which has reached epidemic proportions. The camp is part of a five-year pilot programme being funded by an exceptional grant from the Qatar National Research Fund (part of the Qatar Foundation); it has been organised by MoreLife, a UK company which delivers “weight management and health improvement programmes”, in collaboration with a number of institutions including Qatar University, The Supreme Education Council, Imperial College London and Hamad Medical Corporation.
