GCC economies climb the Doing Business rankings

Saudi Arabia made the most notable improvement in the World Bank Group (WBG)’s latest Doing Business report, issued in late October. The kingdom jumped 30 places to 62nd out of 190 economies. Other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states also posted strong gains, including Bahrain, which climbed 19 places to 43rd, Oman (up ten to 68th), Qatar (up six to 77th) and Kuwait (up 14 to 83rd). The UAE fell back five places, although it remained the region’s highest-ranked economy, at 16th overall.
