Ford imports into Kuwait banned amid legal tussle with former local partner

The Ford Motor Company is involved in a web of claims and counter-claims in the US and the Gulf, after terminating its agreement with Arabian Motors Group (AMG), its long-standing dealer in Kuwait, owned by members of the prominent Al-Wazzan family. Such disputes between international companies and their local agents rarely come into the public eye, but this one has reached the courts. In October AMG filed a complaint against Ford in a Michigan court, seeking to halt arbitration proceedings brought against it by the US giant and for an award of compensatory damages.
