Eskom survives SA winter

Lower-than-expected demand, thanks to relatively mild weather and a wave of strike action, helped Eskom keep the lights on during the peak winter demand period. Delivering a Q3 ‘state of the system’ update on 25 August, chief executive Brian Dames said electricity demand growth over the period was about 1.4% year on year, below Eskom’s 2% growth forecast for the full year.
