Egypt and Cyprus signed an intergovernmental agreement on 19 September for an underwater pipeline to carry Cypriot gas to Egypt’s processing facilities for re-export to Europe. The estimated $1bn pipeline will carry gas from Noble Energy’s Aphrodite field and any future discoveries to Egypt’s liquefaction facilities, where production has recently resumed. In addition to Noble’s 4.5tcf Aphrodite field, Eni said earlier this year that its Calypso-1 discovery could hold more than 8tcf of gas.
