Death of Islamic State leader welcomed

The death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi in a raid by US Special Forces in Idlib, north-west Syria on 26 October was welcomed by Gulf governments. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman phoned Donald Trump to congratulate the US president on the operation, calling it the start of “a new era and a historic step in the war on terrorism, extremism and hatred”.However, there have been words of caution too.
