Coronacrisis takes toll on economies, amid curfews and ratings downgrades

The unpredictable environment created by responses to the spread of coronavirus are starting to be reflected in credit ratings, with Oman and Kuwait either downgraded or warned to expect such a step.The anti-coronavirus policies enacted to date include bans on incoming passengers for most countries and the grounding of flights. While nationals are being repatriated, foreigners are finding it all but impossible to leave some Gulf countries, leading authorities to automatically extend visas. Only one airline, Qatar Airways, has controversially stayed flying where it can (notably to Australia).
