Malaysian attorney general Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali has said it was a son of the late King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz who donated RM2.6bn ($627m) to prime minister Najib Razak in the scandal surrounding the premier and and the state 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fund, the Chinese-language Malaysian newspaper Sin Chew Daily reported. The 2015 scandal over the unexplained funds in Najib’s accounts triggered Malaysia’s largest ever demonstrations and threatened to bring down the premier. The scandal continues and now involves a still unidentified son of the late king.
