Burkina Faso: Samendeni dam inaugurated

The Samendeni multipurpose dam on the Mouhoun River was inaugurated at the end of November in a ceremony attended by President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré. The dam, which is the third largest in Burkina Faso after the Kompienga and Bagré dams, was developed over a decade at a cost of CFA62bn ($104m), to supply water for irrigation, promote fishing activities and generate electricity from an associated 2.6MW hydropower plant.
