Bahrain: Salman Bin Hamad lays conference centre foundation stone

Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa laid the foundation stone of the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sakhir on 7 January, as part of efforts to boost the island’s tourism and investment credentials. The $350m project is due to be completed by mid-2022 and aims to attract 3.5m visitors a year. It will have ten exhibition areas covering 95,000m2, along with a 4,500m2 conference hall and numerous meeting rooms.
