Bahraini rights activist Maryam Al-Khawaja was released from detention on 18 September, though she has been given a travel ban as she awaits trial. Khawaja was arrested after trying to enter Bahrain on 29 August; the United Nations had expressed concern at her detention, and cautiously welcomed her release. Spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Rupert Colville said his office would be closely watching the results of the judicial hearing on her case, which was scheduled to take place at the High Court of Bahrain on 1 October.
