Bahrain: $4bn US jet order questioned

The United States has agreed to supply Bahrain with fighter jets, patrol boats and other equipment worth a total of almost $4bn. In a series of announcements on 8 September, the US State Department said it had approved the sale of $2.8bn worth of 19 Lockheed Martin F-16V aircraft, as well as $1.1bn worth of upgrades to Bahrain’s existing fleet of 20 F-16 Block 40 aircraft to bring them up to F-16V configuration.
