Arab Gulf states left exposed by weak missile defences

Donald Trump’s election will further raise concerns in Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) capitals that the United States’ commitment to its regional allies could suffer yet another downgrade, having been scaled back already during the Barack Obama years. This ought to focus minds on the state of their defences and the GCC’s missile shields in particular. The GCC countries have failed to develop a proper collective missile defence system, despite years of cajoling by the US to encourage them to build a more robust regional system.
