Algeria: Renewable energy tariffs published

Issue 277 - 17 May 2014 | 1 minute read

Algeria’s electricity sector has taken a major step forward in encouraging independent production of renewable energy. The Journal Officiel published on 23 April set out detailed feed-in tariffs which will be paid to companies producing electricity using wind or photovoltaic solar technology. Sonelgaz will sign 20-year contracts for the purchase of renewable power with a price readjustment after an initial five years. The price set for the second phase will remain in force for the remaining 15 years of the contract. This process will be regulated by the Commission de Régulation de l’Electricité et du Gaz.
