Algeria: GE signs largest services deal

GE has cemented its domination of the Algerian electric power market with the largest services deal in its history, covering ten gas-fired power plants operated by Sonelgaz subsidiary Société de Production d’Electricité (SPE). Its GE Algeria Turbines (GEAT) plant in Ain Yagout started production this year and will deliver its first set of turbines in 2019, and it has established a new maintenance operation. The last of the nine gas-fired plants that it was contracted to build in a landmark deal in 2013 are also due to be completed this year and next.
