Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi’s route to wealth is not dissimilar to that of other foreigners who went to the kingdom during a boom period and became closely associated with senior princes. Born in Ethiopia’s Wollo region to a local mother and Yemeni father, Al-Amoudi attended school in Amhara Regional State and as a late teen in the mid-1960s followed his father and other relatives to Saudi Arabia.
