25 October: Christie’s Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern art sale, London

This evening sale will be held during auction house Christie’s Middle Eastern Art Week, in what was previously known as Islamic Art Week. Rival Sotheby’s existing Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern art sales are also held that week, while a similar auction follows at Bonhams in November. Christie’s has moved the sale from Dubai,Christie’s managing director and deputy chairman, Middle East Michael Jeha told The Art Newspaper that the move to London was part of a strategy to “internationalise the market further for Middle Eastern art”.
