Terms and conditions for Cross-border Information (London) Ltd’s (CbI) products and services

1.0 General

The official language of this Agreement shall be the English language and no translation into any other language may be used in its interpretation.

This contract shall be governed, interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

2.0 Copyright

All CbI’s online and offline electronic and printed content is protected by copyright.  No content may be photocopied, reproduced, retransmitted, put into a computer system or otherwise redistributed without prior written authorisation from Cross-border Information (London) Ltd.

3.0 Disclaimer

Data and information is provided to CbI by its staff and network of correspondents through extensive surveys of sources and published with the intention of being accurate.  CbI cannot insure against or be held responsible for inaccuracies and assumes no liability for any loss whatsoever arising from use of such data.

Neither the information provided by CbI nor any opinion expressed in any of CbI’s products is intended as an offer or solicitation with respect to the purchase or sale of any investment or as personalised investment advice.  The information or any opinion expressed is not in any way legal advice or counsel and is not the opinion of CbI or any of its directors or employees. Information contained in CbI’s products cannot be used in any legal action, civil or criminal, without written confirmation of CbI.

4.0 Payments

4.1    Online payments are made via Stripe and are processed in £Sterling

4.2    CbI also accepts offline payments by bank transfer, with the additional option to pay in US$ or Euros.  If you require an invoice please email [email protected]

4.3    CbI’s products and services are provided from the date of payment unless otherwise agreed in writing. 

4.4     CbI’s payment terms are 30 days. 

4.5     Subscription renewals are invoiced 60 days before the end of the subscription term. If payment is not received before the existing subscription terms lapses the subscription will be suspended until full payment has been received.

4.6     All payments shall be made in cleared funds, without any deduction or set-off and free and clear of and without deduction for or on account of any taxes, levies, imports, duties, charges, fees and withholdings of any nature now or hereafter imposed by any governmental, fiscal or other authority save as required by law. If a Party to this Agreement is compelled to make any such deduction, it will pay to the receiving Party such additional amounts as are necessary to ensure receipt by the receiving Party of the full amount which that party would have received but for the deduction.

5.0 Refunds

5.1    Gulf States Newsletter (GSN) subscriptions: We do not provide mid-term refunds for subscriptions.

5.2    PDF reports, maps and articles: We regret that we are not able to provide refunds for downloaded PDF reports, maps and other electronic products.

5.3    If a payment has been made in error, please contact [email protected]. Refunds are at the management’s discretion.

6.0 Article and map purchases

6.1    Articles and maps purchased are for the exclusive use of the individually named account holder.  You are not permitted to share content with anyone via any means, including but not limited to e-mail, printed copy or intranet.

6.2    A list of all articles and maps you have purchased may be accessed through My Account.

7.0    Reports

7.1    Unless otherwise stated, reports are priced for an individual user. 

7.2    Unless otherwise stated, reports are not included within the scope of any other subscription provided by CbI.

8.0    Gulf  States Newsletter (GSN) subscriptions

8.1    Subscription licences cover staff at the purchasing entity only and are for the use of named users at that entity up to the number of users specified in the name of the product purchased. Without the written permission of CbI, the subscribing entity or its staff are not permitted to share subscription resources with anyone via any means, including e-mail, printed copy or intranet.

8.2    Additional users may be added to an annual subscription at a highly discounted rate.  If you would like to share CbI’s subscription or other online resources with colleagues, please contact [email protected]  Tel: +44 (0)1424 721667

8.3    Annual GSN subscriptions provide access to all GSN articles and past issues in PDF, all maps published in the map library and PDF  issues of newly published content (22 issues a year).  The subscription does not include access to special reports, unless indicated on the report page.

8.4    Subscriptions are sold on a fair-usage basis – while customers are encouraged to use and download resources from our archives we do monitor usage and do not permit customers to simply copy the archives onto their computer or local intranet. Attempts to do so may result in termination of the subscription(s) in question.

8.5    Academic subscriptions: CbI offers a special annual subscription package that allows academic institutions to subscribe to GSN and receive all the benefits of an unlimited corporate licence at a fraction of the cost.  The package consists of institution-wide archive access via IPs, including access to articles and PDF issues for all nominated staff and student email addresses. 8.5a    The academic subscription only covers the named purchasing institution. Subscription resources may not be shared with students, academics or other partners external to the named purchaser.

8.5b   At the end of the subscription term the academic instiution has the right to maintain their own record of any issues published during the term of their subscription.  Sharing of published content with other institutions is not permitted without prior written authorisation form CbI.

8.5c    The subscriber is responsible for informing CbI of any change in IP addresses, email addresses or any other information necessary for the publisher to fulfil the terms of subscription access.­­
