UK parliament calls for new approach to Middle East

A House of Lords committee has called on the UK government to forge a new foreign policy towards the Middle East and move away from the “mercurial and unpredictable” policy-making process in the United States under President Donald Trump. “We need a new UK Middle East strategy and set of policies that reflect the new reality in the region. We can no longer assume America will set the tone for the West’s relationship with the Middle East,” said Lords International Relations Committee chairman Lord Howell of Guildford (a former junior Foreign Office minister).
