South Africa: specialists sought for baseload IPP procurement

The Department of Energy says it will release procurement documentation for the key baseload independent power producer (IPP) procurement programme “towards the end of 2013 and first two quarters of 2014”, leaving little time for the transaction advisers currently being recruited to design and implement the process. However, the Department of Energy (DoE) is confident that it can meet the challenging deadline, which aims to procure baseload IPP power plants in time for them to begin supplying the grid before 2019.
