The spat between Qatar and the troika of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain has left many pro-Qatari Saudis, as well as other Arabs who are both pro-Saudi and pro-Qatari, in a tough spot. On social media, many high-profile users initially sought to reconcile their personal views and the public policies by advocating Qatari-Saudi reconciliation or blaming the discord on anti-Qatari private media outlets. Ahmed Bin Rashed Bin Saeed, a professor of political communication in Riyadh who has 617,000 followers on Twitter, wrote that the Qatari and Saudi leaders were on the same side, accusing Al-Arabiya and Sky News Arabia of misrepresenting Qatar’s position.
