After yet another period of absence from the public eye, Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdelaziz reappeared aboard King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz’s plane on 20 June, where he took part in a meeting between the king and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi (see Royals). Bandar lost his job as head of the General Intelligence Directorate in April, prompting extensive speculation over whether he was being punished for his ineffective policies in Syria – a theory which gained momentum when, in May, his brother Salman lost his job as deputy defence minister.
