Saudi Arabia, UAE: top team work to keep relationship on track

Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) hosted Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE Armed Forces deputy supreme commander Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (MBZ) at Mina, on the outskirts of Mecca, on 12 August, for talks on Yemen. The meeting came amid speculation that the relationship between the two regional power-brokers was breaking down in light of the UAE’s decision to pull back from the Yemen conflict. King Salman Bin Abdelaziz had reportedly expressed Saudi Arabia’s “extreme irritation” about the UAE at an 11 August meeting with Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi in Mecca, according to leaked reports that were later denied.
