Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani confirmed Qatar’s strong position in Washington with a successful visit from 8-11 July. There were several meetings with President Donald Trump, starting with a dinner at the Treasury Department hosted by Treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin on the evening of Tamim’s arrival, followed by talks and a working lunch at the White House on 9 July. Trump was full of praise for the emir, telling him: “You’ve been a friend of mine for a long time, before I did this presidential thing, and we feel very comfortable with each other.”
