The bad blood over Qatar’s promotion of Islamist groups has only been rising. Over the past year, since the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi won Egyptian elections, tension has been high between Qatar and the Gulf governments that feel threatened by the revolutionary movement and the popular appeal of Islamist politics – notably Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
