The Gulf crisis has driven speculation about the stability of Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani’s’s rule. Some, but not all, of Qatar’s opponents could countenance regime change in Doha. Analysts speculate that Tamim could be vulnerable if some key players in the Al-Thani family, their tribal and other allies turned against the 37-year-old emir. “Out of the troika [of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE] it’s the Emirates that want blood; KSA is trying to insert caution”, said an analyst recently in Doha.
