Qatar: Production starts on Typhoons

Issue 1068 - 01 Nov 2018 | 1 minute read

Defence minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah visited BAE Systems in the UK in October to mark the start of production of the Typhoon fighter jets destined for the Qatari Emiri Air Force (QEAF). This followed official confirmation of the 24 plane order in September, with the first aircraft to be delivered in 2022. Attiyah also held talks with his British counterpart Gavin Williamson. The UK’s Royal Air Force is due to establish a joint squadron of Typhoon jets with the QEAF, to be initially based in the UK.
