Oman: Sultan Qaboos intervenes on price caps

In a highly unusual move, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al-Said has called a halt on a controversial decision to scrap price controls for all but 23 basic products. The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) announced new rules on 15 June that said essential items such as rice, tea, sugar, salt, fish, toothpaste, and others would still be controlled, but that other goods would be “governed by the supply and demand principle”.
