Musical chairs at the Emiri Diwan

Mohammad Dhaifallah Sharar’s emergence as acting Emiri Diwan minister makes him the third person to hold the post this year. Sharar is a previous advisor to the Emiri Diwan and has served in the cabinet as minister of state for National Assembly affairs and cabinet affairs. At the turn of the year, the job of Emiri Diwan minister was held (in a non-acting capacity) by Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, who before that was deputy minister for Emiri Diwan Affairs and in 2006-07 briefly served as oil minister before being forced to resign.
