King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia’s 90-year-old monarch, remains in hospital in Riyadh, three weeks after being diagnosed with pneumonia. The aged king, who has a history of breathing problems, was admitted for tests on 31 December, and became ill enough to require what the Royal Court described as a “tube to be temporarily fitted to help breathing”; the court’s 2 January statement said that the procedure had been successfully carried out that evening.
