Iran: Total mulls rethink

French major Total has warned it may be forced to pull out of a deal to develop part of Iran’s South Pars field, due to the threat of more US sanctions on Iran. Speaking to US network CNN on 13 November, chief executive officer Patrick Pouyanné said a new round of sanctions could put Total’s involvement at risk, given its US assets. “If we cannot do that for legal reasons, because of change of regime of sanctions, then we have to revisit it,” he said.
