Iran: Tehran wins new FATF reprieve

The Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has once again extended its deadline for Iran to comply with its standards on money laundering and tackling terrorism financing, this time until February 2020. FATF has repeatedly given Iran more time to fall into line with international standards, since an action plan expired in January 2018.At its latest 16-18 October meeting, the FATF noted the Majlis-e Shura-ye Eslami (parliament)’s approval of a number of bills to tackle abuses, but said they had yet to come into force.
