GCC heavyweights shine amid gloomy outlook for refiners

A few Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) economies will dominate refining investment in the Middle East-North Africa (Mena) region during the next few years, according to Bahrain-based Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (Apicorp)’s newly established Energy Research Department. With projects pushed back and cancelled as the oil price collapse bites, Apicorp analysts Mustafa Ansari and Ghassan Alakwaa “anticipate only a handful of projects will come on line within or shortly after their targeted completion date”.
