FAC questions UK cuts in Iraq

A couple of interesting points emerged in the British parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC)’s report into the performance and finances of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 2011-12:
Iraq: The committee questioned whether it was wise to cut the British presence in Basra “at a time when stability throughout Iraq is far from assured and when there is uncertainty about the security of transit routes for oil via the Gulf”.
