Bahrain: Hall pays up

Bruce Hall, the former chief executive of Bahrain’s state-owned aluminium producer Alba, has paid in full a £3m ($5m) confiscation order imposed at the request of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the SFO said on 31 July. On 22 July, Hall was sentenced to 16 months in prison on conspiracy to corrupt, and had to pay the confiscation order or face an additional term of ten years. The SFO said in a statement that he had also paid a compensation order of £500,010 to Alba, where he was chief executive from September 2001 to June 2005, and where his corrupt activities took place.
