Adnoc chooses Shell for $10bn Bab JV

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has chosen Royal Dutch Shell as partner in a 30-year joint venture (JV) to develop the multi-billion dollar Bab sour gas fields in Abu Dhabi. The 30 April announcement was timed to coincide with the start of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan’s state visit to the UK; UK Prime Minister David Cameron – whose November charm offensive in the UAE seems to be paying off – immediately rolled out a statement saying the deal, the largest secured by a UK company in the UAE in recent years, was a “fantastic outcome for Shell and highlights the UK’s world-class energy sector”.
