Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced a 49% increase in pre-tax profit for the six months to 31 December. Pre-tax profit rose to KSh2.2bn ($27.5m) from KSh1.5bn, while electricity revenue increased to KSh18.6bn from KSh12.1bn in H2 07, chiefly owing to an increase in retail tariffs from 1 July.
