Saudi Arabia: King intervenes in land dispute

Okaz reported that King Salman Bin Abdelaziz in January prevented an Al-Saud member from taking a 4km2 plot of land in Taif. The paper said one of the “princes from the Saudi royal family claimed to have the right to the plot of land in Taif, however he failed to show any documents proving ownership”. The land reportedly belonged to the government. ‘Land grabbing’ (or sitting on land and refusing to develop it) by royals has infuriated the Saudi public, who suffer from a housing shortage.
