Zimbabwe: Sable Mining to explore coal power options with Citic

AIM-listed Sable Mining on 21 September signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Citic Construction Company to explore the possibility of developing a 600MW coal power plant on the site of Sable’s 19,236ha Lubu coal project. The power plant will burn coal from Lubu, which is located in the mid-Karoo Zambezi coal basin in north-west Zimbabwe, and the project is being supported by the Ministry of Energy and Power Development.
