| 2 minute read
After more than a year of threatening to do so, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has authorised sanctions against anyone disrupting the transition process in Yemen. On 26 February, the UNSC adopted resolution 2140, which calls for an asset freeze and travel ban for any individual or entity seen to be “engaging in or providing support for acts that threaten the peace, security or stability of Yemen”. A committee will be established to determine who should be sanctioned, and to oversee enforcement.
