As the United Kingdom’s new parliament begins its 2015-16 session, GSN has been examining which MPs had expenses-paid trips to the Gulf in the previous (2014-15) session. British MPs must register all foreign visits that cost more than £300 ($464), if that cost is paid by anyone other than themselves or UK public funds; a look through the members’ register of interests reveals that the UAE and Bahrain in particular have paid for a number of British MPs to visit, reflecting the close relationship of those states to London.
