UAE: Sisi makes first official visit

The UAE gave a grand welcome to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who made his first official visit to the emirates on 17-19 January, accompanied by a high-level delegation. The UAE, in conjunction with Saudi Arabia, has been one of Sisi’s greatest champions, backing him both politically and financially. Sisi made his first visit to Saudi Arabia in August, and went to Kuwait – which has also offered generous financial assistance to his government – on 5-6 January. With UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed still not returned to public duties since his stroke in January 2014.
