UAE: Sheikh Khalifa suffers stroke

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan suffered a stroke on the morning of 24 January. State news agency Wam put out a statement the following day saying he had immediately had surgery. “His health is now stable. May God safeguard him and grant him a quick recovery,” Wam said. A further statement, from Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (MBZ) followed on 26 January, in which he “assured (Arab leaders and senior officials) that the health of the president is stable, thanking them for their heartfelt fraternal greetings”.
