UAE: MBZ’s calls and cables

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (MBZ) – widely seen as the de facto ruler of the UAE since President Khalifa Bin Zayed was incapacitated by a stroke in January 2014 – exchanged greetings with Gulf and other Muslim leaders at the start of Ramadan. MBZ spoke to the rulers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain (though not Oman, where Sultan Qaboos Bin Said is also unwell – see page 9), as well as with the kings of Morocco and Jordan, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and various other royals and leaders around the region.
