UAE: Death of Sheikha Hassa Bint Mohammed marks end of MBK era

Sheikha Hassa Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al-Nahyan, mother of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, died on 28 January. She was the first wife of the UAE’s founder Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan and daughter of his first cousin Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa (MBK). Funeral prayers were performed at Al-Mutareed Mosque in Al-Ain on the day she died, led by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (MBZ) and federal Vice President, prime minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum.
