Spat nearing conclusion?

There has been a flurry of meetings apparently aimed at trying to resolve the spat between Qatar and other states in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), which saw Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE remove their ambassadors from Qatar in March. Following Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad’s 22 July visit to Jeddah to see King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz, the king’s son Miteb Bin Abdullah flew to Doha on 5 August for further talks with Emir Tamim. Saudi state news agency SPA said the talks were “cordial”, and that Tamim held a luncheon in honour of Miteb, who is minister of the Saudi Arabian National Guard.
