South Africa: East coast multi-client survey

Issue 274 - 01 Apr 2014 | 1 minute read

Norway’s Petroleum Geo-Services says a 13,000km 2D multi-client survey in deep water offshore South Africa’s east coast is almost 70% complete, despite the challenges posed by strong currents in the area. PGS is acquiring the survey through an agreement with the Petroleum Agency of South Africa. PGS said the data would give a roughly 20km x 20km grid of high-quality seismic over the frontier area, including well-ties into the shallower waters in the south-west and north-east areas. This is the first comprehensive data-set to be acquired over these blocks.
