Senegal: FAR in Djiffère option

Issue 309 - 09 Oct 2015 | 1 minute read

Australia’s FAR has extended its holdings offshore Senegal with a farm-in option agreement for the shallow-water Djiffère Block. Djiffère, operated by Trace Atlantic Oil, is adjacent to Cairn Energy’s Rufisque, Sangomar and Sangomar Deep blocks, in which FAR also has a stake. FAR said the western part of the Djiffère Block was on trend with the shelf play types identified in the eastern part of Cairn’s blocks. Under its agreements with Trace, FAR has the option to earn a 75% working interest by drilling an exploration well before 31 July 2018, subject to government approvals.
