Saudi Arabia: Palestinian poet to die for apostacy

In another case likely to complicate Saudi Arabia’s relations with western partners, prominent Palestinian-born poet and art curator Ashraf Fayadh has been sentenced to death in Abha on a charge of renouncing Islam. Fayadh was originally sentenced in May 2014 to four years in prison and 800 lashes; after an appeal was dismissed he was retried in November when new judges said his repentance could not prevent his execution.
